Oops, time to get caught up. Greece Part II After Oops, time to get caught up. Greece Part II After our skipper training, we spent another 2 weeks in Sivota so Amelia could complete some RYA dinghy courses. Looks like the sailing bug has bitten! Janice and I spent the time exploring the island of Lefkada and we loved the view from our balcony. Then we caught the ferry to Corfu and spent a few days exploring. Happily for Amelia there was time to visit a water park and for Gary, some plane spotting. Greece was a last minute decision and we were so grateful we went ... friendly people, amazing food, blue water, and sailing ... a perfect summer!
Greece Part I ... We were wondering what to do aft Greece Part I ... We were wondering what to do after Romania, when Janice mentioned sailing. This was a Tuesday morning; by Thursday we had our courses booked, on Saturday we were back on Lefkada (we visited the island back in April 2022 in our motorhome) and on Sunday we were onboard. Janice and Gary had spoken about getting skipper's tickets to charter bareboats ... well, now thanks to @ionianmode and Yassir (@manibenchelah) we are holders of 2 Day Skippers and a Competent Crew certificate! And the views, sea, warm weather and hospitality of the Ionian Islands made it even more spectacular and special! @royalyachtingassociation #ionianislands #sailing #bluewatersailing #summeringreece #ryadayskipper #ryacompetentcrew #worldschooling
Romania ... a new country for us. Specifically a w Romania ... a new country for us. Specifically a week in Sibiu. Thank-you you Rachel from @worldschoolpopuphub for organising the hub! We had fun exploring the very walkable city and meeting new families. A definite highlight was driving the Transfagarasan Highway, described by Jeremy Clarkson as "The world’s best road". We enjoyed it too ... despite driving a Dacia and not a supercar! An even greater treat was seeing the bears on the Lake Vidrau section of the highway! The cubs were soo cute, well, maybe not their claws. And we appreciated being able to watch the bears from the safety of our car! Unfortunately the beauty hides a darker story ... hundreds of workers are thought to have died during the construction of the highway and, despite the signs, people feed the bears resulting in sometimes deadly interactions 😞 #romania #sibiu #transfagarasan #eurasianbrownbear #worldschooling
